Interestingly, the average batting average of players with a minimum of 1000 runs in the calendar year in ODIs in Kohli is also the best.

While AB deVilliers, a teammate of Royal Challengers Bangalore, had recorded 1,193 runs in 20 games in 2015, while Kohli was an average of 146.57 this year.

Actually, Kohli's stability has been that he has broken the habit of great Sachin Tendulkar's record. He is the only player in the history of the World Cup.

Kohli reached the milestone after reaching 81 in his innings and thus got the fastest run in 10,000 ODI runs in innings.

Kohli has played 205 innings as compared to Tendulkar's 259. Former India captain Sourav Ganguly has now been placed in the third position, he has played 263 innings in the milestone.

Kohli became the fourth Indian and 13th batsman to achieve this feat. The Indian captain also holds the record for being the fastest to reach the 8000 and 9 000 ODI runs.

During his innings in the second ODI, Kohli became the fastest Indian to score 4000 runs on home soil. Kohli left behind Sachin Tendulkar as he reached home in the 78th innings, while Tendulkar scored the milestone 92 runs.

Apart from Kohli and Tendulkar, Mahendra Singh Dhoni is another Indian who has scored more than 4000 runs on domestic soil. They played 99 innings to win.
