Latest Apple MackBook pro 2018 edition have an extra layer of protection of silicon barrier below the keys of the butterfly keyboard.
The 2018 editions of MackBook Pro features the butterfly keyboard. Apple placed an extra layer of silicon barrier to protect the keyboards from randomly failing.
The extra padding offers a very quiet typing experience. This barriers are olaced for an additional purpose. initially which was not clarified by Apple.
But MackBook pro documentation indicate that the barriers are placed to "prevent debris from entering the butterfly mechanism" ,

iFixit exposed that the new MackBook Pro has a number of elements that could potentially hinder the otherwise smooth operation of the keyboard.
As by the iFixIt report this silicon membrane prevent the powders or dust from entering the keyboard. It work as a shield.
