WhatsApp rolls out two very new feature PiP mode for Android beta users and 'Swipe to Reply' Gesture Support; Ability to Download External Sticker Packs Tipped
After a long time on its launch on the iPhone, the estimated 'swipe-to-reply' feature is now heading towards Whatsapp for Android.
This feature is currently available through beta version 2.18.300. The Facebook-owned company had brought the same experience to iPhone users last year, and Android devices reported it last week.
In addition to using a whitespace in the night or in the low light environment, the background will be replaced with a dark treatment to help reduce the tension on the eyes of users.
There is no timeline during the beginning of the Dark Mode, however, last week it was reported that this feature will be both Android and iOS. Separately, Whatsapp has asked for more information from the sticker pack.
With Android for Whatsapp Beta 2.18.300, you can now use the simple swipe gesture to answer a message quickly. Any message will be quoted on Whatsapp on that message. First, you need to tap and hold the special message and then press answer option from a message.
The new gesture support makes the experience faster. Also, it is useful especially if you are replying to a message in the Whatsapp group. Swipe to respond to WhatsApp gesture Android gadgets 360 white speck
To download the latest WHATSAPP Beta on your Android device, you need to be part of the official Google Play Beta program. Alternatively, you can download your APK file directly from APK Mirror. In the coming days, there is a possibility to reach a WhatsApp release public release to enable the 'Swipe to answer' feature.
People have been tweeted separately on WABetaInfo that Whatsapp will allow you to download sticker packs externally. It is said that there will be a 'more sticker' option that will open your Google Play so that you can download stickers from other apps. There can also be dedicated Whatsapp stickers for new stickers on the board.
WABetaInfo claims that the external sticker support will be activated "soon", though, Whatsapp has not created any formal extras for the new couple.
PiP mode for Android beta users
Whatsapp picture-in-picture (PIP) mode has been launched for Android Beta. This facility was already in development and was not capable of beta testers. Now, WABetaInfo reports that the Picture-In-Picture mode can be used on WhatsAppSwetter Beta version 2.18.301. It lets users see YouTube, Instagram and Facebook videos in the Whatsapp app.
Whatsapp Android Beta Testers who are unable to access the feature after updating version 2.18.301, can not re-install the app after its chat history. PIP mode is already available for iPhone users. The feature essentially lets users run a small window in WhatsApp.
This means that a YouTube or Instagram video link sent on WhatsApp will not open on the users or Instagram app on the user's device. Instead, the video will open in a small bubble in the chat window. The video bubble also includes play/pause, close and full-screen control. Whatsapp users can or should not work on the phone.
However, this feature is not yet suitable for Android users. According to the WABetaInfo report, the video window is closed when users switch to any other chat window within WhatsApp, which is not on iOS.
The site notes that there is no word on WhatsApp when PIP mode will exit for the public. The photo-in-picture feature will also be compatible with streamable video and will work on Android 4.4 KitKat and above smartphones.
